Simple Sentence
Understanding different Clause Types is crucial. Here are some examples:
SV (Subject + Verb): "She sings." SVO (Subject + Verb + Object): "They read books." SVC (Subject + Verb + Complement): "He became a scientist." SVOO (Subject + Verb + Object + Object): "She gave him a gift." SVOA (Subject + Verb + Object + Adverbial): "They laughed loudly."
Sentence Identification: Determine the clause type for the following sentences:
"I swim." (SV) "He paints a beautiful picture." (SVO) "The cake smells delicious." (SVC) "She handed him a letter." (SVOO) "They played soccer enthusiastically yesterday." (SVOA)
Sentence Transformation: Take a sentence and try to transform it into a different clause type. For example:
Original SVO sentence: "They read books." Transform it into SV: "They read." Transform it into SVC: "Reading books is their passion."
